Candidate Privacy Statement
Dominion Salt Limited (“Dominion Salt”, “we”, “our” or “us”) collects and handles personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
Why we collect your information
We collect personal information to:
•    assess your suitability for employment;
•    communicate with you about your application;
•    verify information you provide;
•    complete authorised pre-employment checks;
•    prepare an employment offer and complete onboarding; and
•    meet our legal, health and safety and regulatory obligations.
If you do not provide information reasonably required for the recruitment process, we may be unable to fully assess your application or offer you employment.
Information we may collect
This may include your:
•    name, address and contact details;
•    CV, qualifications, employment history and application responses;
•    eligibility to work in New Zealand;
•    interview and assessment information;
•    referee details and reference information;
•    relevant licences or professional registrations; and
•    criminal record, medical or other pre-employment information where relevant and lawfully requested.
How we collect and share information
We generally collect information directly from you. With your authorisation, or where permitted by law, we may also obtain relevant information from referees, recruitment agencies, qualification or registration bodies, government agencies, occupational health providers and publicly available professional sources.
Your information may be accessed by Dominion Salt employees and managers involved in recruitment and by authorised service providers, including our recruitment-platform provider. It may also be shared with related companies where they have a legitimate role in the recruitment or approval process, or where required or permitted by law.
Specific referee, criminal record, Police vetting, medical, drug and alcohol, immigration or other checks will be subject to any additional authorisation required. Criminal record checks will recognise your rights under the Criminal Records (Clean Slate) Act 2004.
Storage and security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, unauthorised access, use or disclosure. Our recruitment platform or service providers may store or process information outside New Zealand. Where this occurs, we will take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate privacy safeguards apply.
If you are employed, relevant recruitment information will become part of your employment record. If you are unsuccessful, we will retain your recruitment information for up to 12 months.
Your rights
You may access or correct the personal information we hold about you, withdraw from the recruitment process, or ask us to remove you from consideration for future opportunities.
